About Johnstown, NY
Founded by William Johnson in 1760, the City of Johnstown is the county seat of Fulton County, New York. Johnson built a county courthouse in 1772. The courthouse, pictured above, still stands and is the oldest operating courthouse in New York according to the city’s website.
Johnstown was heavily involved in the tanning industry with neighboring Gloversville, the two being called “Glove Cities” to this day.
